For the first time since the start of November, Cardiff City recorded a victory in the Championship to create some breathing space between themselves and the relegation zone.
It has been a rough time to be a Bluebirds supporter recently, with their last crumb of success coming in the form of a 1-0 away win over Sunderland over three months ago.
A run of just five points accumulated out of a possible 24 following that led to manager Mark Hudson losing his job, and his successor Sabri Lamouchi has also had a rough start with three successive league defeats.
However, the tide changed on Tuesday night with a 2-0 win against Birmingham City, thanks to late goals from defender Perry Ng and top goalscorer Callum Robinson.

Robinson was a summer acquisition from West Brom for a fee of around £1.5 million, with his seven goals in all competitions leading the way for the club.
He started on the bench against the Blues last night though before entering the pitch and securing all three points, and as an Aston Villa academy graduate and ex-West Brom player, the goal and win will have meant something extra.
And he just couldn’t help but get a dig in at Birmingham with an Instagram post, acknowledging that he always enjoys taking three points off ‘them lot’.
The Verdict
Even though he left Aston Villa some years ago, Robinson’s time spent in their academy will mean he always holds a place in his heart to dislike the blue half of the city of Birmingham.
But what he will love even more is finally helping Cardiff to secure three points in the Championship over three months after their last league win.
Their success on the road in the Midlands means that they are now three points clear of the relegation zone, although they could be level on points with it by the weekend should Wigan defeat Bristol City later on this evening (Wednesday night).
In the eyes of Cardiff fans, this will be just the start of their push away from the bottom three and up the table, and they will fancy their chances on Friday night as an out-of-sorts Reading head to South Wales.
