Newcastle United confirmed the departure of Callum Wilson early last month, after five years at St James’ Park.
The number 9 having come to the end of his NUFC contract and reportedly turning down a pay as you play short-term deal.
Callum Wilson followed up the club announcement with an emotional farewell message (see below) to the Newcastle United fans.
Most people assumed that news would swiftly follow of which club he would be joining.
Now four weeks later, BBC Sport have reported that Callum Wilson has reached agreement with a new club just two weeks ahead of the new Premier League season.
‘West Ham have agreed to sign former Newcastle and Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson on a 12-month contract.
A deal is now in place for 33-year-old Wilson, who scored 49 goals in 130 outings for Newcastle but failed to agree a new contract with the Magpies.’
Good luck to Callum Wilson with his new club.
Newcastle United official Callum Wilson announcement – 7 July 2025:
‘To all you Magpies…
It’s time to say goodbye after an unbelievable few years in the Toon.
Thank you for everything. We stood strong together through the highs and some lows to help the club experience new heights.
I am so proud to have worn the iconic number 9 shirt and to have added a little more history to it. Scoring at the Gallowgate End really is as special as they say.
All good things come to an end but there’s no doubt Newcastle United will always have a place in mine and my families hearts.
