SC Cambuur have identified a suspect in connection with the incident of racial abuse against Willem II winger Samuel Bamba. The Tilburg player was abused during the last round’s clash at the Kooi Stadion. The suspect will be referred to the conduct committee.

The Leeuwarden club issued an update this week, after all parties involved had previously spoken out strongly against the behaviour of those in the stands.

“Much has been said and written in recent days about the racist treatment of Willem II player Samuel Bamba last Saturday in the Kooi Stadium,” Cambuur wrote on the club website. “Without exception, this was massively and emphatically condemned, and let that be a message to everyone. As a club, a footballing community, and a society, we simply will not tolerate this.”

The investigation into the incident and the identification of the possible perpetrators is reportedly now in its final stages. All resources have been deployed in collaboration with the authorities, and it has been determined that one individual is suspected of unacceptable conduct. This person has been identified and will be brought before the conduct committee.
