Celtic’s UEFA Champions League play-off game is almost upon us as the Hoops get set to take on Austrian Bundesliga champions LASK tomorrow night (Wednesday) under the lights at Paradise.
The Hoops went through their final pre-match training schedule at Lennoxtown this morning, and the media later heard the thoughts of Cameron Carter-Vickers at Celtic Park this afternoon.
The defender said: “We've had a good few weeks, a good few performances, but we know tomorrow will be a tough game for us, so we're ready and looking forward to it.
“It's always a boost to the squad when you make new signings. Just the energy that kind of brings to the group always helps. And they're settling in well, so it's good.
“New signings do give the group a bit of energy and a bit of momentum, and the players that have come in so far have really hit the ground running.”
With Martin O’Neill now back at the helm, the squad are now driven by a man who is no stranger to world football’s top club competition whether as player or manager, and Carter-Vickers gave an insight into the Irishman’s preparation of the team.
The American internationalist said: “Martin is fairly consistent, whether it's a Champions League qualifier or just a regular league game.
‘Every game at this club is important, so we're used to that pressure.’
“And like I said, he sets a tone with just the way he is and how consistent he is throughout the season.
“I think it'll be a difficult game. They're champions of Austria, so obviously a good side. We've watched a little bit of them today and they looked like a physical side, very well-organised with good quality as well.
“So, it'll definitely be a tough, tough tie for us. Like I said, we're prepared as we can be and we're looking forward to it.”
