Zambo Anguissa
André-Frank Zambo Anguissa's participation in the 2025 AFCON in Morocco with Cameroon is currently uncertain. Napoli, his club, has a plan to keep him in Italy.
AFCON 2025 is set to take place from December 21 to January 18. And once again, the familiar tug-of-war between European clubs and African national teams has resurfaced. Napoli is reportedly trying to persuade André-Frank Zambo Anguissa to skip the tournament with Cameroon in the name of “the club's interests”. According to Corriere dello Sport, Napoli want to extend the Cameroonian midfielder’s contract, which currently runs until June 2027.
This is a top priority for the club, but AFCON 2025 has become a sticking point in negotiations. The Italian outlet reports mounting pressure to “convince” Zambo to give up the competition, or at least delay his departure. "The contract extension is progressing, but his participation in AFCON is not guaranteed," the report adds. This season, Zambo has scored 4 goals and provided 1 assist in 9 Serie A appearances.
