Camilla Orlando quits Palmeiras Women for full Under-20 role

Palmeiras announced this Sunday (19) the departure of Camilla Orlando from the helm of the women’s team. The coach, who since June had been splitting her duties between Verdão and the Brazil Women’s U-20 National Team, will now fully take over the canarinha squad.

Camilla joined Palmeiras at the end of 2023, coming from Real Brasília, and brought with her experience from the youth teams at Internacional, the United Arab Emirates Women’s National Team, and Red Bull Bragantino, where she won the Brasileirão Feminino A2 in 2021. With Verdão, she led the team in 69 matches and won two titles: the 2024 Paulista Women’s Championship, after a penalty shootout victory over Corinthians—becoming the first woman to win a title for the club—and the Brasil Ladies Cup, defeating Grêmio this Sunday.

In the current season, the coach led Palmeiras to third place in the Brasileirão Feminino, securing a spot in the 2026 Copa Libertadores Femenina, in addition to guiding the team to the semifinals of the Copa do Brasil Feminina, where they will face São Paulo at the beginning of November. In the Paulista Women’s Championship, the team is in second place, with four rounds remaining in the group stage.

With Camilla’s departure, Palmeiras is searching for a replacement, and according to Tayná Fiori from ge, Rosana Augusto is expected to take over. Free on the market since Thursday (16), after leaving Flamengo, Rosana boasts a distinguished career, with four Olympic Games and four World Cups. A former left-back, she wore the Palmeiras jersey in 2020, playing 19 matches, scoring six goals, and providing four assists.
