Campbell strikes late as Charlton launch opening day comeback | OneFootball

Charlton Athletic beat Derby County 2-1 at The Valley, coming from behind on the opening day to start the Championship campaign in the play-off places.

Sam Szmodics put Derby ahead in the 23rd minute, finishing from close range after Carlton Morris' lay-off. After Nathan Jones introduced Miles Leaburn and Millenic Alli, Lloyd Jones glanced in Karlan Ahearne‑Grant's cross to level (61.). Tyreece Campbell then cut in from the left and drilled the winner low (80.).

Will Mannion preserved the points with a smart save from Morris in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time. Moments later, Rams goalkeeper Jacob Zetterström came up for a corner and headed wide in the seventh minute of second half stoppage time.

Charlton finished with 13 attempts, four on target. Derby registered 15 attempts and also hit the target four times.
