In Rabat, the 2025 AFCON round of 16 clash between Algeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo struggled to ignite for much of the match. The first half was short on chances, with a stop-start pace and a fierce midfield battle dominating proceedings, resulting in a tightly locked contest lacking any real attacking spark from either side.
DR Congo stuck to their initial game plan, defending deep with a compact, disciplined block, closing down space and taking few risks. Algeria, on the other hand, showed more ambition after the break, delivering a much-improved second half. Their intent was clearer and the pressure more sustained, but precision continued to elude them in the final third.
Despite the improved performance, the scoreboard remained unchanged. The match finished 0-0 after regulation time. Unable to break the deadlock in 90 minutes, both teams will now have to face the challenge of extra time in search of a decisive goal.
