Preparations for Algeria’s national team ahead of CAN 2025 officially kicked off this Monday at the Sidi Moussa Technical Centre. Under the guidance of Vladimir Petkovic, the Fennecs have launched a four-day training camp in Algiers before heading to Rabat for the next stage of their program, as they gear up for their tournament opener against Sudan. The head coach was able to rely on a fully assembled squad from the start, despite the interest of several European clubs.
Out on the pitch, the coaching staff implemented a program tailored to the players’ physical conditions. Those who had recently played a match went through a recovery session, while the rest of the squad worked with the ball, maintaining a controlled but steadily increasing intensity.
Only Samir Chergui was missing from the lineup. Sidelined with a hamstring issue, the Paris FC defender was rested as a precaution. The Algerian Football Federation stated that he is observing a period of rest, but remains confident about his availability for the team’s opening match of the tournament.
