Speaking alongside Vladimir Petkovic at the pre-match press conference on the eve of Algeria vs Sudan, Riyad Mahrez delivered a composed and insightful message. The Desert Foxes' captain did not shy away from addressing the ever-present pressure surrounding the national team:

"Pressure is part of a footballer's daily life, even though in Algeria it's especially intense. Every player must understand the responsibility that comes with wearing this jersey. We're ready, the squad is ready..."

Having touched down in Morocco with the Algerian delegation, Mahrez also highlighted the warm welcome and the team's mindset on the eve of this CAN 2025 campaign:

"We were very well received, Morocco is a neighboring country. We're going to do everything we can to achieve something special here—that's what matters most."

Asked about the criticism he regularly faces, the Algerian skipper displayed calm confidence, steering clear of any controversy:

"It's part of football. The older you get, the less you play for the top clubs, the more criticism you attract. But I don't pay attention to that. I try to help the team as much as possible. We have a fantastic group, a fantastic team, and we have to show it together—starting tomorrow."
