The day after Morocco's defeat to Senegal in the final, the Moroccan federation issued a statement demanding sanctions.
On Sunday night, the incidents that unfolded at the end of regular time during the CAN 2025 final between Morocco and Senegal (0-1, after extra time), have not gone unnoticed in the Kingdom. In an official statement released on Monday, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation called for sanctions against the Lions of Teranga.
"The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) announces that it will pursue legal procedures with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as well as the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) to rule on the Senegalese national team's withdrawal from the pitch during the final against the Moroccan national team, as well as on the events that accompanied this decision, following the referee's announcement of a penalty deemed correct by unanimous expert opinion. This situation had a significant impact on the normal course of the match and the players' performance," the statement read.
For its part, CAF has already "referred the case to the relevant bodies so that appropriate measures can be taken against those found guilty." FIFA, meanwhile, has strongly condemned the actions.
