A breakout star at the start of the season for LOSC, Hamza Igamane quickly became a fan favorite in Lille and across Morocco. Moroccan supporters were hoping to see the young striker start the Africa Cup of Nations on home soil as a first-choice player. Unfortunately, everything changed a few days ago against OM. Struck by a hamstring injury, Hamza Igamane was forced to leave the pitch, and initial medical evaluations were far from reassuring.

On Thursday, Walid Regragui unveiled his squad and decided to place Hamza Igamane on the reserve list. According to Foot Mercato, initial tests conducted with LOSC suggest he will be sidelined for around three weeks—a shorter absence than the five weeks previously rumored on social media. Further examinations are expected to determine whether or not he will be fit to take part in the tournament.
