Heavy sanction for Samuel Eto’o

The Confederation of African Football has decided to hand Samuel Eto’o a four-match suspension along with a fine of 20,000 US dollars.
This disciplinary action comes after the behavior of the Fecafoot president in the VIP stands during Cameroon’s quarter-final defeat against Morocco in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Cameroonian football governing body challenged this decision in a statement released on its social networks on January 14, 2026.
“Fecafoot further notes that the fast-track procedure leading to this decision raises serious concerns regarding the fundamental requirements of a fair trial,” the statement read.
The Cameroonian federation has reiterated its support for its president and its commitment to upholding the principles that underpin credible disciplinary justice.
