The stage is set for the final of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2025) as Morocco and Senegal go head-to-head this Sunday, January 18 at 7 p.m. GMT in Rabat.

This is a historic final, as these two sides have never clashed at any stage of the tournament before.

Yet, the Atlas Lions and the Teranga Lions have crossed paths several times in other official and friendly competitions.

To book their place in the final, Morocco defeated Comoros (2-0) and Zambia (3-0) and drew with Mali (1-1) in the group stage. They then edged out Tanzania (1-0) in the round of 16, Cameroon (2-0) in the quarter-finals, and overcame Nigeria (0-0, 4-2 on penalties) in the semi-finals.

On the other side, Pape Thiaw's squad topped their group by beating Botswana (3-0) and Benin (3-0), with a draw against DR Congo (1-1). They eliminated Sudan (3-1) in the round of 16, Mali (1-0) in the quarters, and Egypt (1-0) in the semis, each time doing just enough to advance.
