Just days before DR Congo and Benin kick off their campaigns at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, the reunion between Sébastien Desabre and Gernot Rohr promises to be something special. The two tacticians will go head-to-head on December 23, marking the opening matchday of the group stage.

Speaking to TV5 Monde, the Leopards’ head coach did not hide his admiration for the Cheetahs’ boss—a mutual respect that has grown over the years, long before their respective African journeys began.

For me, he has always been a role model. Back when he was a player, I used to go watch him play. Then, he showed us the way. Today, we still exchange from time to time.
