Senegal and the nightmare of host nations in the CAN

Senegal/@Ouest France
By defeating Egypt (1-0) thanks to a goal from Sadio Mané, Senegal will play in the fourth final in its history at the CAN after appearances in 2002, 2019, and 2021.
After losing their first two finals against Cameroon in 2002 and Algeria in 2019, the Lions of Teranga redeemed themselves by winning against Egypt in 2022.
Pape Thiaw's men have a golden opportunity to add a second star to their badge, provided they beat Morocco, who edged out Nigeria on penalties (0-0, 4-2 on pens).
However, one statistic weighs heavily against Senegal ahead of this final against the host nation. In fact, in five encounters with tournament hosts, Senegal has never come out on top.
Senegal's record against CAN host nations:
1990 (semi-final): Algeria 2-1 Senegal
2000 (quarter-final): Nigeria 2-1 Senegal
2004 (quarter-final): Tunisia 1-0 Senegal
2006 (semi-final): Egypt 2-1 Senegal
2024 (round of 16): Côte d'Ivoire 1-1 (5-4 pens) Senegal
