As part of the preliminary qualifiers for CAN 2027, Chad is set to face Burundi. However, doubts are swirling around whether the first leg of this two-legged encounter will go ahead.

With just two weeks to go before the match, the Chadian Football Federation is struggling with a lack of funding to organize the event. So far, the necessary funds have not been released by the sports authorities. Faced with this major financial hurdle, the Chadian federation is considering the possibility of withdrawing against Burundi. Such a move could have severe consequences.

A final decision is expected in the coming days.

This wouldn't be the first time. Chad previously withdrew from the CAN 2017 qualifiers, after which CAF imposed a strict sanction: suspension from the following edition.

The Sao head coach, Raoul Savoy, continues to prepare the local players for this crucial fixture. As of now, the Chad vs Burundi match is still scheduled for March 27 at the Idriss Déby Itno Olympic Stadium in N'Djamena.
