For the third season in a row, striker Lequincio Zeefuik is being loaned out by AZ Alkmaar. The former FC Volendam forward spent the 2024/2025 season on loan with OH Leuven for six months and the back end of last season on loan at Heracles. In that time, he scored two goals in 30 games for both sides, with one goal in 14 games for AZ Alkmaar last season. However, the striker is still young at 21 and is still developing as a footballer.

Now he has a chance to join a side from the summer, which may help with his integration into a new side. That time is Fortuna Sittard, who recently saw striker Kaj Sierhuis leave the club and join NEC Nijmegen after his contract came to an end. Fortuna Sittard have turned to Zeefuik in an attempt to replace what they have lost with Sierhuis. The former Ajax man provided the side with 12 goals last season, big boots for Zeefuik to full.

Zeefuik was highly rated coming out of Volendam as a teenager and AZ Alkmaar were keen to sign him for the future. There is still plenty of time, and AZ only loaning and not selling Zeefuik is perhaps a sign that they believe that this move could be key in helping him to develop further as a player.

The striker himself told the Fortuna Sittard website ‘The fact that the club showed interest in me at an early stage gives me a lot of confidence. I also felt that during the conversations with the technical director and the head coach. I am going to give everything for the club this coming season and look forward to making it a great and successful season together‘.
