Can Baumi follow in Elber and Jancker's footsteps? #FCARBL match facts

“I can’t remember a game in Augsburg ever being fun," said Xaver Schlager ahead of this weekend's fixture. "Our goal has to be to stand our ground and win the key duels – it definitely won’t be about playing pretty football."

Our midfielder certainly has plenty of respect for Saturday's opponents. We've taken a closer look at why, whilst also finding enough reasons for an away win.

1. An excellent run

This will be the 19th meeting between our boys and FCA. We haven't lost to Augsburg in our last 15 match-ups (W9, D6), stretching all the way back to February 2018. Augsburg aren't currently on a longer wait for a Bundesliga win against any other side.

2. Ole's strong start

No coach in RBL history has ever claimed more points from their first seven Bundesliga games than Ole Werner. The 37-year-old has picked up an impressive 16 points so far, remaining unbeaten across each of the last six matchdays (W5, D1).

3. Can Baumi follow in the footsteps of Jancker and Elber?

Christoph Baumgartner's two goals against HSV secured all three points for RBL. Baumi also scored our goal in the previous game, a 1-1 draw in Dortmund. The Austrian could now become just the fifth player in Bundesliga history to score in three consecutive games and be shown a yellow card in each match as well. Only these four players have previously done so: Lars Stindl (2015, Gladbach), Giovane Elber (1998, FC Bayern), Carsten Jancker (1997, FC Bayern) and Wolfgang Patzke (1982, VfL Bochum).

4. Two tough-tackling sides

Both teams are not afraid to get stuck in out on the pitch. RBL have won 725 duels this season, the second most in the division. FCA rank third in this regard (707), with only Leverkusen winning more duels across the whole league (779).

The players with the most duels won for RBL so far are Ridle Baku (69), Christoph Baumgartner (67) and Willi Orban (64). Centre-back Chrislain Matsima (63) is FCA's top tackler.

5. Another round of golf for our captain?

David Raum's iconic celebration after his free-kick against 1. FC Köln is still fresh in our memories. There's a decent chance we'll see the golf swing come out against FC Augsburg this weekend, given that Raumi hasn't had a hand in more goals against any other side (2 goals, 3 assists).
