The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has taken a tough stance following the final of CAN Morocco 2025, with Senegal bearing the brunt of the disciplinary committee’s decisions after incidents during the clash against Morocco.
Lions’ head coach Pape Thiaw has been handed a five-match suspension and fined $100,000 for unsporting conduct and violating the principles of fair play. On the sporting front, two key players have also been punished. Elimane Ndiaye (Everton) is suspended for two matches and Ismaïla Sarr (Crystal Palace) is also banned for two matches, both for inappropriate behavior towards the referee during the game.
The harshest penalty targets the Senegalese Football Federation, which must pay a total fine of $615,000 for all violations recorded during the final. These decisions will have a direct impact on Senegal’s upcoming fixtures, both on the bench and on the pitch.
