The Copa del Rey semi-final second legs take place this week, deciding who travels to Seville for the 18 April showpiece at the Estadio de La Cartuja. As reported by as.com, the competition's yellow-card rules mean players do not miss the final through accumulation.
Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid meet first at Camp Nou after a 4-0 first leg in Atlético's favour, so Simeone's side are favourites on paper, while Flick's team have shown they can test any opponent. In the other tie, Athletic Club visit Real Sociedad, with the first leg finishing 0-1 to leave the contest wide open.
Bookings do add up in the cup, with a one-match ban after three yellow cards. However, all accumulated cautions are wiped after the quarter-finals, so semi-finalists start from zero.
An important caveat remains for any player who received a third booking in the quarter-final itself, who must then miss the first leg of the semi-final. They can play the return and the final, a measure designed to keep squads as complete as possible.
The only route to missing the final through suspension is a red card in the second leg of the semi-finals. A multi-match ban that overlaps the final date would also rule a player out.
