This summer, Buchanan had the major misfortune of suffering a serious leg break.

The injury occurred in training whilst the 25-year-old was with the Canadian national team at the Copa America.

Buchanan fractured his tibia. The injury reportedly occurred whilst the Inter wingback challenged for the ball with a teammate during a training session.

Buchanan was rushed to hospital following the injury. It was quickly determined that he would require surgery, and the Canadian went under the knife the following day.

Obviously the injury is a serious one, and the recovery timeline is hardly a short one.

Therefore, it has always been clear that Buchanan would be out not just for the preseason period, but also for a few months at the start of the upcoming campaign.

Tajon Buchanan Could Be Back Earlier Than Expected For Inter Milan

Early projections were that Buchanan would likely be able to return some time in November or December.

It was not to be ruled out that the Canadian could have to wait until early in 2025 to get back on the pitch.

However, the most recent update on Buchanan’s fitness has been positive.

According to the Corriere, the 25-year-old may be able to return as early as late October.

This would mean that Buchanan would miss the first three months of the season or so.

Of course, the recovery will still be a long one. And Inter still won’t be taking any risks with the Canadian’s fitness considering the severity of his injury.

But the spectre of losing Buchanan for more than half the season no longer seems to be there.

The Canadian international could be back for the autumn.
