Canada officially kick off their 2030 FIFA World Cup cycle on Saturday by hosting Chile in an international friendly at Toronto FC's BMO Field.

After facing Chile, Les Rouges will welcome Peru to CF Montréal's Stade Saputo on Oct. 3 before taking on fellow 2026 World Cup co-hosts the United States on Oct. 6 at Allianz Field, home of Minnesota United FC.

The CanMNT's first camp of the 2030 World Cup cycle and accompanying three-game slate come during an expanded September/October international window, which was designed to limit disruption to the global club landscape.

Canada

Canada return to action for the first time since their historic performance at this summer's World Cup. 

Under head coach Jesse Marsch, Les Rouges earned the country's first-ever World Cup point, win, knockout-stage appearance, knockout-stage win and Round of 16 appearance, among other feats, marking a memorable tournament on home soil. 

Marsch called up 10 MLS players to his 26-man roster, including 2026 World Cup standouts Richie Laryea (Toronto FC) and Luc de Fougerolles (Real Salt Lake).

LAFC teammates Mathieu Choinière and Jacob Shaffelburg also featured during the CanMNT's record-breaking tournament on home soil.

Meanwhile, James Pantemis (Portland Timbers), Richard Chukwu (Toronto FC) and Jeevan Badwal (Vancouver Whitecaps) will hope to see their national team careers take off.

Chile

Chile begin the new World Cup cycle with eyes on qualifying for the quadrennial event for the first time since the 2014 edition in Brazil. 

Interim manager Nicolás Córdova included three MLS-based players in his 27-man squad: defenders Benjamín Kuscevic (Toronto FC) and Paulo Díaz (Atlanta United), as well as forward Gonzalo Tapia (Columbus Crew). 

Additionally, former New York City FC homegrown Zidane Yañez, who's currently with Nashville SC's MLS NEXT Pro affiliate Huntsville City FC, is one of three guest players invited for La Roja's North American-based tour that will also feature friendlies against the United States (Sept. 29) and Mexico (Oct. 6).
