Barcelona took on Levante on Sunday afternoon looking to make a statement after two straight defeats, and they did take all three points at the Spotify Camp Nou.
Marc Bernal handed the team the early lead before Frenkie de Jong doubled the margin later in the half. Given the number of chances they created, however, the scoreline should have been far more dominant.
From Joao Cancelo’s wonder performance to Marc Bernal’s unexpected goal and Fermin’s golazo to Pedri’s return from injury, the game had it all and was a memorable one for Barcelona. Yet, that does not mean that they did not have their flaws on the afternoon.
Barça Universal brings you the player ratings from Barcelona 3-0 Levante.
The shot-stopper was occasionally called into action on the night but was largely unperturbed as Barcelona retained the lion’s share of the possession and control. He was comfortable on the ball and quick with his reflexes to deny Levante any goal.

Cancelo’s performance against Levante last night was not just his best display since coming back but one of the most impressive performances a Barcelona player has delivered at left-back in recent times.
The winter arrival was fabulous with his movement, all over Levante’s defence and repeatedly threatened with accurate crosses. His work rate off the ball was impressive and he deservedly earned the assist for Frenkie de Jong’s goal.
Paired alongside Eric Garcia in defence, Martin dished out a stable performance and was always wary of the threat with balls over the top.
His positioning was great for most of the game, but a booking late in the first half forced him to be more cautious and calculated with his challenges.
Garcia took charge of leading the defence on the night and dished out a very mature performance in every aspect of the game.
His reading of the game was perfect and his challenges were well-timed. He also did exceedingly well in tracking back and progressing the play. Earned the assist for Barcelona’s opener.
Kounde started at right-back despite the confusion with the lineup which suggested he may be in central defence.
Did decently well to link up with Yamal, although his decision-making was slightly delayed at times. However, he appeared hesitant to cross despite openings being available at times.
The youngster was handed a start on the night by Flick and repaid with an unexpected goal just minutes into the game. He got onto the end of Garcia’s early delivery into the box and sent it over the line in full-stretch, once again showing that he is physically ready.
Beyond his goal, he was a steady presence in midfield, reliable in possession and critical in breaking off Levante’s occasional counter-attacks.
The captain scored his first league goal of the season by getting onto the end of Cancelo’s ball and executing a simple finish. Was crucial in the ball circulation, even getting into advanced positions on the left to link up with Raphinha and Cancelo.
The Spanish midfielder did not enjoy his best games in the relatively tight spaces on the night. Yet, his distribution and general contributions were decent.
Did not get into as many attacking positions as the manager would have asked of him, and often wasted Yamal’s link-up attempts with the odd heavy touch.

Yamal was the heart of Barcelona’s buildup on the right flank and was all over Levante’s Manuel Sanchez. His dribbles were a constant menace but the final balls were a relative let-down in the first half.
Was active in bouts in the second half again with his usual brilliance on the ball and earned the assist on paper for Fermin’s golazo.
The Polish striker often dropped deep, looking to link up with the rest of the team and contribute in more ways than just being the target man. Did not get as many chances as he would have liked in the first half.

The Brazilian star was a warrior off the ball and one of Barcelona’s hardest-working players in the pressure system off the ball. On the ball, however, the ball did not quite find him in appealing positions for most of the game.
Came on as part of Barcelona’s triple substitution and scored a trademark ‘Fermin’ golazo from distance with ridiculous power behind the strike.
