West Ham’s impending sale of Mohammed Kudus this summer is now finally starting to take shape, although Spurs’ interest must be avoided.
Although selling a player of undeniable talent like Kudus doesn’t exactly scream ambition, it cannot be ignored that the player clearly isn’t at the level he was during his first season.
Of course it can be argued that the team as a whole failed, which of course played a huge part, but there is also the clear unsettled nature of his manner, which suggests he wants out.
Kudus can still catch a very hefty fee and its money that West Ham so desperately need, with the club eager to oversee a huge squad overhaul – to fit the vision and ambitions of Graham Potter.
It’s now understood that Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle are the clubs so far from the Premier League that have expressed serious interest- with Spurs also now throwing their hat in the ring.
The desire from inside the club is to sell abroad, preferably to a Saudi club, however Kudus is intent on staying in England.
This poses a dilemma for West Ham, with them so desperate to avoid selling to a rival – Spurs being one we simply cannot entertain in any way shape or form.
The positive though so far is that the north London club are so far off valuation that it’s hoped a move with be too rich for Daniel Levy & co.
However this unfolds, the fact is West Ham need to get a deal done soon, to trigger a serious summer rebuild and start growing confidence in a very fragile fanbase.
