Cape Town City are closing in on the top spot in the Motsepe Foundation Championship following a 1-0 victory over Lerumo Lions on Sunday.
Prolific striker Dzenan Zajmovic, who was lured back to South Africa after his exit at TS Galaxy, scored a late goal that has the Citizens sitting third with 35 points from 19 games.
Meanwhile, log leaders Milford FC, who have 36 points, were stunned with a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of relegation-threatened Midlands Wanderers in the KZN derby.
Kruger United trail closely in second place with the same amount of points as the table toppers after securing a 3-1 win against Venda FC.
Casric Stars boosted their promotion ambitions with a 1-0 triumph against The Bees FC, and round up the top four with 34 points.
In the middle of the pack, Upington City overcame Leicesterford City 1-0, while Highbury beat Gomora United 2-0 to climb to 11th.
Elsewhere, Baroka FC saw their fight against relegation take a major setback as they were subjected to a slender 1-0 defeat by University of Pretoria, and remain 15th.
Similarly, bottom-placed Black Leopards continue to flirt with danger after a 2-1 loss against Hungry Lions, with their last win dating back to the beginning of November 2025.
