Capello on the most negative surprise from Parma-Milan: “Continued to suffer”

Fabio Capello didn’t hold back when asked about AC Milan’s performance against Parma this morning, interviewed by Gazzetta dello Sport. One thing, however, surprised him negatively more than the rest.

Indeed, it was a disastrous evening for Milan as nothing worked, allowing Parma to dominate most of the game. Several of the stars, especially Theo Hernandez, failed to help out the team and this made things incredibly difficult.

When asked about the performance by Gazzetta dello Sport, Capello stated that Milan are lacking the ever-crucial balance. But even so, the thing that surprised him the most was the non-existent effect of the substitutions.

Even with the arrival of Emerson Royal and Fofana, did anything change?

“Here, this is the thing that surprised me the most negatively. Milan didn’t change even with the substitutions and continued to suffer counter-attacks in wide spaces. In fact, to tell the truth, Parma did more damage precisely in the area occupied by Emerson Royal. Confirming that it’s not a problem of men, but of the whole team.”

Milan will certainly have to pick themselves up ahead of the Lazio game next week, which now is a must-win for the team. Heading into the international with zero wins would be a huge disaster for Paulo Fonseca, that’s for sure, and could even put his future in jeopardy.
