Two men who stripped parts from parked cars across the West Midlands in a large car cannibalism spree have been jailed.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, the pair were jailed for four years and three months at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday, 26 June after admitting conspiracy to steal from motor vehicles. Mohammed Khan, 23, of Croxton Grove, Birmingham, and Mohammed Haydar, 23, of Fenhurst Road, Birmingham, were the offenders.
The pair offended between December 2022 and October 2024, removing headlights, bumpers, mirrors and bonnets within minutes. Khan admitted 98 incidents, Haydar 20.
Police investigated for over three years, executing warrants and arrests. Extensive CCTV and forensic work identified them. They also filmed thefts and posted bragging online.
Owners often returned to immobilised vehicles, disrupting daily routines. Supporters reported parts taken from cars around St. Andrews at Knighthead Park on matchdays.
A statement from Birmingham City to the court cited rising cannibalisation near fixtures, significant damage, costs, insurance issues and distress, harming confidence and the area’s reputation.
Officers now maintain a visible matchday presence, increasing patrols to deter offending, spot suspicious activity and reassure residents, with immediate response capability. Partners include the club, local authorities, businesses, car park operators and stewards.
