Chelsea have learned who they will face in the Carabao Cup third round should they progress past Luton Town.

Xabi Alonso's side host the League One side at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night, but the third round draw was made on Wednesday night prior to their cup tie.

If Chelsea beat Jack Wilshere's side, they'll face Leeds United next month. Following Wednesday's draw, Alonso or Wilshere's team will face Daniel Farke's Leeds at home.

Given that Chelsea have avoided a side in European competition, their third-round tie, if they beat Luton Town in the second round, will be played in the week commencing September 7.

But first, Chelsea need to focus on getting past Luton Town, who beat Gillingham in the first round to set up a tie against Alonso's Blues. They have also made an unbeaten start (W1, D1) to their league campaign.

There are some blockbuster ties, many of them being all Premier League affairs.

Manchester United host Brighton, while Sunderland face newly promoted Hull City. Arsenal travel to Ipswich Town, while Coventry City and Aston Villa face off in a derby.

The tie of the round is a fixture between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, with Newcastle United drawing away to Millwall after progressing from round two.

West Ham will host the winner of the tie between Fulham and AFC Wimbledon on Thursday evening.

First things first, they must do a professional job against Luton.

But a rivalry awaits at Stamford Bridge if they progress to host Leeds United, giving the cup tie a real edge.

It will be a big week for Alonso's side, as they could face Leeds after their away trip to Arsenal in the Premier League.
