Liverpool will face Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup third round.

Holders Manchester City host Championship side Norwich City, while last season’s beaten finalists Arsenal travel to newly promoted Ipswich Town.

Manchester United take on Brighton & Hove Albion, while Chelsea, if they beat Luton Town in Thursday’s second-round tie, will host Leeds United.

This round introduces the nine Premier League clubs in European competition this season, Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Bournemouth, Sunderland, Brighton and Crystal Palace, joining the 23 second-round winners.

To ease scheduling, the eight Champions League and Europa League clubs cannot be drawn against each other in round three, a restriction that does not apply to Brighton, who are aiming to compete in this season’s Conference League.

Round three will be staged across two weeks in early to mid September to avoid clashes with the opening weeks of the Champions League and Europa League league phases.
