Cardiff boosted by Osho fitness as Wrexham lose Windass for derby opener | OneFootball

Cardiff City have been handed a lift for Monday's Championship opener against Wrexham, with Gabriel Osho available and Rubin Colwill progressing, while Josh Windass will miss out for the visitors.

According to Wales Online, Brian Barry-Murphy says Osho is fine to feature after playing through discomfort in last weekend's Carabao Cup win over Swindon Town.

Colwill has been nursing an ankle issue but has made good strides this week and has a chance of involvement.

Dylan Lawlor has not trained with the first team and is unlikely to feature. Will Fish has undergone hernia surgery and is out for three months.

Calum Chambers remains a doubt. He has returned to parts of training, and the Monday kick-off could give him extra time.

For Wrexham, Phil Parkinson has confirmed Windass, their 2025/26 Player of the Season, will miss the opener as he continues his recovery.

There are brighter notes elsewhere. Ben Sheaf is moving closer to fitness, and Liberato Cacace has continued work at the training ground after a fatigue issue that kept him out of the Carabao Cup tie against Middlesbrough.

Max Cleworth played against Liverpool and Sunderland on the US tour, then gained further minutes in a behind-closed-doors friendly with Wigan Athletic on Monday. Ben Whiteman also featured against Wigan after his debut against Middlesbrough.

With both squads managing absences, Osho's availability offers Cardiff timely help in a stretched position, though the defence still looks light.
