Cardiff City boss Brian Barry-Murphy has admitted his squad needs new additions.

The Bluebirds are dealing with a number of absences and Barry-Murphy believes further reinforcements are required, even with their injured players returning to fitness.

“I think we need new players. I think we need additions,” Barry-Murphy said.

“You saw how stretched we are in terms of numbers today, and that’s even if the players who are injured were fit.

“We’re very conscious that we have to strengthen the squad.”

Barry-Murphy says left-back is a particular area where the club are working hard to strengthen.

Despite his squad being stretched, Cardiff progressed to the Carabao Cup second round with a 3-2 win over Swindon Town thanks to a double from Yousef Salech and a debut goal from new signing Jack Moylan.
