Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti is giving increasing consideration to affording a senior call-up to a member of the club’s defensive ranks at youth level.

That’s according to Diario AS, who point towards David Jiménez as the player in question.

Jiménez, for his part, is a 20-year-old right-back, who is currently plying his trade with Real Madrid Castilla.

The youngster has long been making waves with his performances for Raul’s side, the latest of which saw Jiménez net a sumptuous free-kick en route to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Alcorcón over the weekend.

And such endeavours have not gone at all unnoticed amongst those at first-team level in Spain’s capital.

As per a report from the aforementioned AS:

‘Carlo Ancelotti is considering bringing him up to the first-team, as he did in the match against Alavés. Not on a permanent basis, but very often.’

Real of course find themselves short on options at right-back at present, owing to the long-term injury suffered by Dani Carvajal.

And, as things stand, it is Jiménez who is seen as winning the battle to reinforce the right side of Ancelotti’s backline for the weeks and months ahead.
