This of course comes fresh off another outing to forget for the Italian and his players on Wednesday.

Real Madrid welcomed Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to Spain’s capital last night, for the 2nd leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie between the clubs.

And after being downed by three goals to nil in the tie’s opener, Los Blancos’ hopes of another historic ‘remontada’ were quickly distinguished, as Arsenal ran out 5-1 victors on aggregate.

The nature of their defeat has since given rise to widespread speculation surrounding the future of the aforementioned Carlo Ancelotti.

Amid mounting calls for the former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss to be sent on his way by the Santiago Bernabéu brass, a whole host of contrasting claims have surfaced in the media.

And the latest, as alluded to above, points towards Ancelotti preparing to move on before the month is out.

As per a report from Sky Sports:

‘Carlo Ancelotti is expected to leave Real Madrid after the Copa del Rey final on April 26,’ a clash which will see Los Merengues lock horns with arch rivals Barcelona.

A temporary addition would in turn be made to the bench in the Spanish capital for the final weeks of the La Liga campaign, before Xabi Alonso likely takes up the reins in the summer.
