Carlo Ancelotti invited Vikash Dhorasoo to observe Brazil’s training in India, then the former midfielder watched the Seleção win 4-0 in Saturday’s friendly. According to L'Équipe, the pair also met privately during the international break.

Dhorasoo was in India as an ambassador at the local federation’s invitation and described Friday as a magical moment. The ex-France international, capped 18 times and with grandparents from India, texted his former AC Milan coach from 2004 to 2005 and was asked to visit the team hotel on the eve of the game.

They spoke for almost an hour, covering memories, questions and coaching advice. A few days earlier Dhorasoo had earned his UEFA Pro licence in Italy as he moves towards management.

He was also welcomed into Brazil’s training, noting that Ancelotti spent more time explaining the session to him than with his players.

Now 52, Dhorasoo serves as assistant at Paris 13 Atlético in Ligue 3. He called the experience hugely important to a pathway he feels is nearly complete and which, he hopes, can take him towards the very top level.
