González, for his part, is a 19-year-old shot-stopper, who spent last season plying his trade with Real Madrid’s C team.

The Spanish youth international has long been held in altogether high regard behind the scenes in Spain’s capital, viewed as a potential first-team star in the making.

And such admiration for González, it has today been revealed, extends to the very top of the ladder at the Santiago Bernabéu.

This comes amid confirmation that the starlet has long earned for himself a nickname, by way of none other than Carlo Ancelotti.

With González having now trained as part of Ancelotti’s senior squad on a number of occasions, the Italian has labelled his young goalkeeper as his own ‘Buffon’.

As much comes, according to The Athletic, ‘because his 6ft 6in (199cm) frame reminds him of former Italy and Juventus no.1 Gianluigi Buffon’.

Safe to say, that if González goes on to manage even half the career of Juventus icon Buffon, he will have done rather well for himself.
