Carvalhal is well-regarded within Hillsborough, and he's been going down memory lane on social media
Dejphon Chansiri's time at Sheffield Wednesday came to an end back in October 2025 when he placed the club into administration, but with Arise Capital Partners officially taking over at Hillsborough, the Thai businessman can be consigned to the history books.
There may still be some brief dealings left for new owner David Storch to have with Chansiri, given he's put a multi-million pound offer on the table to cancel out his debt, as long as the Owls are promoted back to the Championship at the first attempt, but it is because of the latter's refusal to co-operate with the American and the EFL in the first place which has seen the club's planned 15-point deduction for next season wiped out.
Times under Chansiri weren't always awful for the Owls - before the days of unpaid player wages, bills and ludicrous claims and statements, the first couple of years after his purchase of the club in January 2015 were pretty successful on the pitch, but there were also some extravagant buys which you could argue set them up for the downfall of years to come.
In Chansiri's first full season as owner, Wednesday made it to the Championship play-off final, only to be defeated at Wembley by Hull City, and then the next year, despite finishing once more within the top six of the second tier, the South Yorkshire outfit were eliminated at the semi-final stage.

Both of those play-off campaigns were managed by Carlos Carvalhal, who was Chansiri's first managerial appointment in the summer of 2015 after the exit of previous boss Stuart Gray, and it wasn't the most well-received appointment ever, given the Portuguese coach had had a journeyman-esque managerial career, as well as not managing in nearly three years upon his arrival, with his last stint coming at Istanbul Başakşehir in 2012.
But by the time his stint in South Yorkshire had finished in December 2017, Carvalhal was a popular figure amongst the Hillsborough terraces, and still remains so to this day, and this weekend will be present at a charity match at Wednesday's stadium, which will involve his 2015-16 play-off finalists and a team of fans and stakeholders of the club.
Ahead of that, Carvalhal has taken to social media platform Instagram to post a picture that originates from May 5, 2017 - nine years to the very day he posted it - clearly showing that he still holds what he did at Wednesday very much in his heart.

Now 60 years of age, Carvalhal has made his way through a lot of different clubs as a manager - 21 different ones to be precise - with many clearly seeing him as a good fit, whether it's for the short-term or long term.
Carvalhal's third stint as Braga boss though ended in May 2025, and he's gone the entire 2025-26 campaign (for countries who play from August to May) without taking charge of anyone, which is quite rare for him.
Could David Storch tempt Carvalhal back to Hillsborough though on a full-time basis, given he clearly loves the club? Well, it looks as though Henrik Pedersen will be given the chance to continue as head coach after his struggles this past season, with the Dane's hands pretty much tied behind his back.
If a change were to be made at some point though, then what are the chances? If the circumstances and money was right, there may be a small possibility that Carlos returns to S6 - but as of now, it's somewhat of a pipe dream for many.
