Mirassol beat Botafogo 2-0 at the Maião on Saturday as Carlos Eduardo struck twice, a result that keeps the hosts 15th while the visitors remain 11th in the Brasileirão.

Carlos Eduardo opened the scoring in the 16th minute, finishing from close range after Igor's header was kept out. He doubled the lead in the second minute of first half stoppage time with a low finish.

Walter was outstanding between the posts, making five saves to frustrate Fogão, including stops from Arthur Cabral and Cristian Medina.

After the restart, Hakim Ziyech lifted Fogão's threat, drawing further saves and teeing up a headed chance for Danilo Santos, but the home defence held firm.

Mirassol were efficient, registering seven shots on target from 12 attempts. Fogão matched the 12 attempts but were repeatedly denied by Walter.
