Carlos Palacios has been left out of Boca’s squad for the final match of the first half of the year against Universidad Católica, closing a semester without an official appearance.
According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the published list for this fixture confirmed the forward’s continued absence, a pattern that has held throughout recent months.
The Chilean, from Renca, struggled to train normally early in the year due to chronic synovitis in his right knee. With symptoms persisting once the competition had started, he and the medical staff opted for surgery. He underwent the operation on 23 February, then faced a prolonged rehabilitation that ruled him out for the rest of the semester.
His last official outing came on 7 December, a 1-0 defeat to Racing Club at La Bombonera.
Since then he has focused on kinesiological work and a gradual physical build-up, even rejoining group sessions. That progress seemed to suggest he might get late-semester minutes, but he did not feature.
With the first half now over for him, Palacios turns towards the second phase after the World Cup, seeking to put the knee issue behind him, regain match sharpness and compete for a place.
