Carlos Palacios has undergone surgery on his right knee after two months out, and faces around two more months of recovery.
According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the club's medical team operated on Monday morning after conservative treatment failed to resolve chronic synovitis in his right knee.
The issue has kept the Chilean out of every Boca match in 2026. His last appearance came in December last year, a defeat and Clausura elimination against Racing.
A return to first-team competition is considered possible towards the end of April. The 25-year-old's rehabilitation is expected to mirror the time he has already been sidelined.
Palacios is not the only recent case at Boca. Centre-forward Milton Giménez, formerly of Banfield, also underwent surgery for lumbalgia after non-surgical attempts did not work, and the delay means Boca will be without Palacios for roughly double the time compared with having operated at the outset.
