Carlos Tévez has left his role as Talleres manager following the club’s quarter-final exit from the Torneo Apertura 2026.

The former Argentina and Manchester City striker departs after talks with the club’s board, led by Andrés Fassi, in the aftermath of the derby defeat to Belgrano. While the club announced the end of his contract officially, the decision had been coming for some time following a difficult run of results.

Tévez had been under contract until mid-2026, but both sides agreed it was the right moment to go their separate ways after Talleres failed to build momentum during the second half of the campaign.

During his time in charge this season, Tévez oversaw 35 matches, winning 13, drawing 11 and losing 11. Talleres also scored and conceded 28 goals, reflecting a side that often struggled for consistency despite showing promise in spells.

The defeat to local rivals Belgrano ultimately proved to be the decisive moment, with the pressure surrounding Tévez increasing in recent weeks as results continued to dip.

Talleres will now begin the search for a new manager, while Tévez becomes available once again as he looks ahead to the next stage of his coaching career.
