At 36, the defender starts a new chapter and will share a dressing room with compatriots Jéssica Silva, who left Al Hilal, and Patrícia Morais, signed from Braga. She also reunites with Cristina Martín-Prieto, a former team-mate at Luz.

In her first remarks, Costa said she was delighted to join a huge club and had come to help the team compete for trophies. She vowed to give her best to meet expectations and hoped supporters would back them in numbers, adding that she believes the team can give fans plenty to cheer.

She leaves after another standout season. In 2025/26 she played 26 matches, scored 11 goals and supplied one assist.

Costa was a pillar of Benfica’s most successful spell in the women’s game, featuring in six consecutive league triumphs from 2020/21 to 2025/26. Her departure closes a notably successful chapter.
