The club said in a statement that Carolina Tristão sustained a quadriceps muscle injury during Saturday's B-team match and faces a spell out of no less than three weeks.

The midfielder has already begun rehabilitation. The absence reduces head coach Ivan Baptista's midfield options in the weeks ahead.

She will miss Benfica women's next fixture, scheduled for this weekend in the Liga BPI.

Tristão had been a regular selection under Baptista.

Diana Costa, another academy player, is also sidelined until the end of the season after a foot injury.
