Michael Carrick says Luke Shaw could return for Manchester United’s clash with Brighton on Wednesday, although the defender remains a doubt.
Shaw has been sidelined for the last two games but Carrick says his absence should only last for a matter of days.
“Yeah, he could possibly be fit for Brighton, but it’s not clear cut,” the United boss said. “It’s a matter of a few days rather than anything else.”
Matthijs de Ligt is also continuing his recovery, with Carrick reluctant to put a firm timeframe on his return.
“He is just working his way back really,” Carrick said. “Because of the timeframe and how it’s been, I don’t want to put too much timeframe on it.”

Amad is not expected back in the immediate future, though Carrick is hopeful of a return in the near future.
“Not quite close in terms of days,” he said. “We’ll see as the week progresses.”
There was more positive news on Carlos Baleba, who is expected to return to the group over the next week or so and will be involved in the squad after the international break.
“Yeah, definitely will be,” Carrick added. “He’ll be back in and around the group at some point over the next week or so.
“So that means after international [break] he should be in good shape.”
