Carrick praises Man United belief after Crystal Palace comeback | OneFootball

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick praised the belief of his team after the club’s comeback win against Crystal Palace.

United recovered from a goal down to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Old Trafford and rise to third in the Premier League table. After a slow start, the Red Devils fell behind to Maxence Lacroix’s header, but a second-half red card for the French defender changed the game.

Dismissed for denying a goalscoring opportunity for a foul on Matheus Cunha, United took full advantage of their extra player. First, Bruno Fernandes scored the penalty that was awarded for Lacroix’s foul on Cunha, before Benjamin Sesko headed in the winner.

Speaking to BBC Match of the Day, Carrick was delighted with the response from his side, who are unbeaten in his seven league games as interim boss.

“I’m delighted with the win and the way we responded to a slow start. Credit to Palace, they started the game really sharply and bright.

“We showed that belief and personality and we finished the first half well. To overcome going a goal down so early, that was a new challenge for us. You have to do that at certain times, it has to be perfect.”
