Michael Carrick has said there will be an announcement on his future at Manchester United in the next few days.
Carrick is understood to have agreed a two-year contract to become the club’s next permanent manager, following an impressive interim reign.
The 44-year-old has won 11 of his 16 games in charge and oversaw a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest in the club’s final home fixture of the Premier League campaign on Sunday.
At full-time, Carrick said ‘clarity’ was coming on the club’s managerial situation.
“Clarity in terms of coming towards the end of the season, nothing has changed. If there’s something to be said either way then it will be announced but today was about the game and finishing the season strongly for all the players and the club. We’ll see what happens in the next few days.
“There’s a lot of rumours, it’s interesting to see what’s true and what isn’t. That’s not for me to get involved with. Clarity will come in the next few days.”
On the win over Forest, Carrick said he was pleased as the Red Devils finished ‘strong’ on home soil.
“We wanted to finish strong. We’ve put ourselves in a good position and to have today in front of our supporters.
“We wanted to win the game, made it a bit difficult for ourselves at times but I thought some of the football was fantastic and we could’ve won by more. It was a good day for us to win the game and see the atmosphere in the stadium was special.”
