Carrillo returns for Corinthians against Vitória in Brasileirão

Corinthians, with a goal from midfielder Charles in the final stretch of the second half, defeated Vitória at Barradão Stadium on the afternoon of last Saturday, October 25th, in a match valid for the 30th round of the Brazilian Championship. The result left the Alvinegro in tenth place with 39 points (10 wins, nine draws, and 11 losses).

The Corinthians triumph in the northeast of the country was also marked by the return of midfielder André Carrillo after more than two months. On his social media, the Peruvian celebrated the three points and his return to the pitch wearing the Corinthians shirt: “To come back and win a tough, hard-fought, gritty game... It feels different. André Carrillo hadn’t played since August 6th, when the Alvinegro beat Palmeiras 2-0 at Allianz Parque, in the second leg of the Copa do Brasil round of 16. On that occasion, the 34-year-old athlete suffered a ligament injury on the sideline and had to be substituted seven minutes into the second half, making way for Breno Bidon.

Against Vitória, the number 19 played for 62 minutes and was replaced by midfielder Charles at 17 minutes into the second half. According to Sofascore, he recorded the following stats in the match: 40/46 accurate passes (87%), 17/23 passes (74%) in the opposition half, 23/23 accurate passes in his own half (100%), and 1/4 accurate long balls (25%). His rating on the app was 6.3.

In total, he has three goals and five assists in 61 matches (41 as a starter) for Corinthians, with 35 wins, 12 draws, and 14 losses – almost a 64% success rate. Carrillo was signed by the Alvinegro in the mid-2024 transfer window after several seasons in the Arab world. The Peruvian was instrumental in the team’s surge in the last edition of the Brasileirão and was a starter in the 2025 Paulistão title campaign against Palmeiras.

Recovered from injury, André Carrillo should be available for Corinthians’ next match. The Alvinegro will return to the pitch only next Sunday, November 2nd, at 4pm (Brasília time), at Neo Química Arena, in a match for the 31st round of the Brazilian Championship.
