Casemiro has called for Michael Carrick to be given the permanent manager’s job at Manchester United.
Carrick has led Manchester United to Champions League qualification since taking the reins on an interim basis in January. He was won 10 of his 14 games in all competitions, beating Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Chelsea in the process.
United lead the Premier League form table since Carrick’s appointment and midfielder Casemiro has called for the Red Devils to reward the 44-year-old.
Discussing Carrick’s impact at Old Trafford, Casemiro said the caretaker coach ‘completely deserves’ the permanent position. He added that Carrick ‘has everything’ to be a great manager at Old Trafford for the long term.
“In my opinion, he completely deserves it [the Manchester United job], I think he’s a guy who has already demonstrated that he has very good qualities to be a Manchester United coach,” Casemiro told ESPN Brazil.
“So it’s not up to me to choose, it’s up to the club.
“But if I could give my opinion, of course he deserves it, and he deserves the club’s total trust.
“Of course, the season is year-round, but since he arrived, he’s been doing an incredible job and I think that with more time he has everything to be a great manager of Manchester United.”
