Casemiro has revelled in playing once a week and has been one of the club’s most important performers this season.

He has been incredible in front of goal, scoring nine goals in all competitions and has been a major reason behind United’s rise to third in the table.

This Sunday will be Casemiro’s last at Old Trafford against Nottingham Forest, and there is expected to be an emotional farewell from the fans.

Casemiro on former teammates

As part of the media build-up to his last game, Casemiro spoke to former United star Rio Ferdinand on his podcast, Rio Ferdinand Presents.

Ferdinand asked Casemiro to compare United legend Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, two players with whom he shared significant success at Real Madrid around a decade ago.

Explaining his point of view, the midfielder stated, “Cristiano scores, Cristiano has 15 goals. Minimum 15 goals. But Bale attacks, defends, heads, scores, fouls.”

He added, “Cristiano is the best. Cristiano is the best. Cristiano is another one. Cristiano gives the… Take Cristiano off the conversation.”

Surprisingly, Casemiro then expressed his preference for the Welshman’s game.

Commenting on Bale, he said, “but for me, Bale is the best, more complete player. Because he attacks, he defends, he scores [with] the head, [wins] foul. Everything, he does [is] very good, very quick. Too strong. And for me, Bale is an unbelievable player. Unbelievable player.”

Casemiro’s Old Trafford farewell will take place this Sunday at 12:30 BST against Nottingham Forest.
