Casemiro says Michael Carrick is like Ancelotti for this reason

Outgoing Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has thrown his support behind Michael Carrick for the permanent managerial position at Old Trafford. The Englishman has been a revelation since taking charge at Old Trafford in January this year as caretaker manager following the departure of former head coach Ruben Amorim.

Put in charge to steady the ship after the Portuguese’s tumultuous 14-month reign, Carrick embarked on a run of 10 wins and three draws in 15 games. The Red Devils adapted to the English manager’s tactics quickly, and have since climbed to third in the Premier League table with two games remaining.

With qualification for next season’s Champions League secure, United are now preparing for a massive summer transfer window. However, they also have a managerial decision to make, with Carrick only in charge until the end of the season.

A previous report relayed by The Peoples Person suggests that the former midfielder is the frontrunner for the hot seat at the Theatre of Dreams. Casemiro, who has been a regular under Carrick since his arrival, has now shared his opinion on the matter.

United’s big problem with Carrick>

Speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents, Casemiro acknowledged that Carrick’s impressive caretaker stint has posed a problem for United in their process of selecting the full-time manager. He said: “It’s a big problem. Because he deserves to stay, he deserves to stay.”

“The team plays very good. He will win any games. The team improves day by day. Game by game the team improves. So for me it’s a big problem, because in my opinion, he deserved this opportunity.”

“He deserves the opportunity, because the team is very comfortable. The team plays very good. We have big wins, big ones. So for me he deserved this opportunity.”

Casemiro has started all but one of Carrick’s games in charge, missing the 0-0 draw against Sunderland last weekend due to an injury. The Brazilian has scored five goals and registered one assist, playing a key role in the team’s dominant run.

Carrick compared to Carlo Ancelotti

Casemiro went on to compare Carrick to former Real Madrid manager and current Brazil boss Carlo Ancelotti. The Brazilian has appeared 75 times under the Italian manager to date and enjoys a cordial relationship with him.

Casemiro also stated that the Englishman understands the players’ requirements as he has played at this level, adding: “He played at this level. You know what the players’ feelings are. Ancelotti, he is a big manager because he understands.”

“He played. He knows what the players need to listen to, and he pushes, but he knows the time to push. He (Carrick) knows. So for me he deserves it. Absolutely, in my opinion, he should stay.”

Final Thoughts

The calls to appoint Carrick for the permanent job are getting stronger by the minute, and it will be very hard for INEOS to turn him down. With established managers like Luis Enrique, Thomas Tuchel and Ancelotti unavailable this summer, one could argue that there is no better option than the Englishman at the moment.
